Book 3: Kalachakra

Chapter 8: Kalachakra

What is your ultimate self?

The Wheel of Time spins and the mandala of sand is pulled back into the chaos. Impermanence is balanced through intention as we find a moment of sanctuary before we fall back into the sea. It may seem hopeless, but for a moment in time, we have infinity, do we enjoy it compassionately, or despair the end with every waking thought.

All we build ultimately falls back down, all we create in time is destroyed. Why do we do it? Again and again. Is there a choice? Do we fight it, or accept it as best we can? Forever is Fleeting.

Within this cycle, we are given the gift of life, of being, and consciousness. We choose the path we take through it and we hope in some way we make a difference, and carry it all forward. The shame is not to cherish the moment and live in the fantasies of the past or future, rather than let them be our guides.

The Buddhist monks construct this mandala all over the world, it takes days of precision, concentration, and focus on the wellness of all sentient beings. At the end of the meditation, they sweep it up, blessed, and the intention is release into the nearest river as it makes its way back to the sea. The wheel turns.

Kala means Time and Chakra means Wheel. A mandala is the architectural blueprint of the palace dedicated to the intention within. It is said that the last Buddha project all his teachings into the patterns and illustration within the Kalachakra, and it was given to the Kings of Shambhala to hold and protect until the Dalai Lama set foot upon the Earth and it was given to them to teach future generations.

The Wheel will always spin, and though we exist on the edge of the nothing, we find a way to pass our knowledge forward, to the next generation. The torch is carried onward, and we evolve forward.

We experience this on all levels of our life, like a fractal lifting upward from the atomic to the big bang. An Infinite Between for us to thrive and exist in this divine play.
